				<title>The Effect of a Birth Plan on Birth Outcomes: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: Women often feel more vulnerable during delivery, whereby the birth plan becomes most applicable, as an approach for pregnant women to present their expectations for childbirth. This systematic review was conducted to determine the effect of birth plan on birth outcomes.Methods: This systematic review was conducted by searching across databases of PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Medline, EMBASE, ProQuest, Magiran, IranDoc, and IranMedex using search terms of “plan birth”, “birth experience”, “pregnancy”, and “labor with no time limitation until January 2024. Bias assessment of randomized controlled trials was done using the Cochran handbook, while that of quasi-randomized clinical trials was done via ROBINS-I.Results: A total of 424 articles were retrieved from database searches, and an additional 10 articles were identified through manual searches. Ultimately, 9 studies with totally 1949 participants were included in the systematic review, and 6 studies were included in the meta-analysis. The results of meta-analysis showed that the mean score of childbirth experience was significantly higher in the birth plan compared to the control group (SMD=0.60; 95%CI: 0.07 to 1.13; P=0.03). Vaginal delivery frequency was significantly higher in the birth plan than in the control group (OR= 3.50; 95%CI: 1.78 to 6.89; P=0.0003). There was no significant difference between groups in terms of stages of labor (P&gt;0.05). The results on neonatal outcomes were discrepant.Conclusion: The birth plan improves the childbirth experience and delivery outcomes. Clinical trials with stronger designs are suggested while also observing all RCT principles.]]></abstract>

				<title>School-based Sexual and Reproductive Health Education and Its Challenges to Adolescents in Ethiopia; A Qualitative Study</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: Sexual  and Reproductive  Health  Education  (SRHE) helps  adolescents  avoid  risky  sexual  behaviors  such  as  unintended  pregnancies and sexually  transmitted  infections.  However, it is frequently said that school-based SRHE is insufficient and uneven.  This study aimed to investigate the   perceptions of teachers, students, and healthcare workers regarding the current delivery of school-based sexual and reproductive health education and the challenge it faces in Ethiopia.Methods: The study was conducted using conventional content analysis of qualitative approach in Arsi Zone, Ethiopia.  Overall, 36 participants were involved in the study.  Among  these,  24  were  students  took part in  focus  group  discussions  and  12  key  informants  who participated in  in-depth-interview.  The data were collected using pretested and semi-structured interview guides.  All the interviews were recorded and transcribed exactly as spoken. Guba and Lincoln (1985) criteria were used to achieve trustworthiness.  The data were analyzed simultaneously with data collection using ATLAS.ti 8 software.Results: The main themes emerged included: 1) Current school-based Sexual and Relationships Health Education consisted  of   sub-themes of  curriculum  contents,  teaching  approach  and  students’  knowledge  of  SRHE., 2) Implementation obstacles of SRHE including  subthemes such as  teachers’  confidence,  lack  of  resources/reading  materials, cultural and religious barrier sand  discomfort  with  sexual  health  terminology and 3) Suggestion to improve  SRHE  comprising subthemes of health promotion policies, creation supportive environments and avoiding obstacles.Conclusion: The  status  of  school  based  SRHE  is  insufficient  due  to  various  factors.  Policymakers and program  managers  are  advised  to  incorporate  comprehensive  SRHE  within  the  normal  school  curriculum  and  work  on  capacity  building  of  teachers  through  training.  ]]></abstract>

				<title>Predicting Female Sexual Dysfunction based on the History of Child Abuse and Sexual Shame of Women in Iran</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: Sexual dysfunction can cause many injuries and problems for people and adversely affect their marital relationships. Addressing women’s sexual issues is very important in light of sociocultural issues. To this end, this study aimed to predict female sexual dysfunction based on a history of child abuse (sexual, physical, and emotional) and sexual shame.Methods: This predictive correlational study was conducted on 402 women who were selected by voluntary sampling in Ahvaz, Iran in 2021. The data were collected using the Female Sexual Function Inventory (FSFI), NorVold Abuse Questionnaire (NorAQ) and Kyle Inventory of Sexual Shame (KISS). Based on the cut-off score of the FSFI, the women were divided into two groups with and without sexual dysfunction. Data analysis was performed using stepwise and discriminant analysis. Results: The data showed a significant difference between the women with and without sexual dysfunction in terms of child abuse (sexual, physical, and emotional) and sexual shame (P &lt;0.001). Moreover, child abuse and sexual shame could, together and separately, discriminate the women with and without sexual dysfunction.Conclusion: Given the role of history of abuse and sexual shame in explaining women’s sexual dysfunction, preventive interventions need to be implemented for women to reduce sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. Besides, effective training for women can reduce sexual shame. Moreover, therapeutic interventions need to be conducted to reduce the previous effects of sexual abuse and sexual shame, which could consequently, reduce sexual dysfunction in women.]]></abstract>

				<title>The Effect of Counseling based on PLISSIT Model Focused on Dysfunctional Sexual Beliefs among Women with Sexual Dysfunction: A Randomized Clinical Trial</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: Sexual beliefs play a tremendous role in sexual dysfunction. Previous studies have not adequately addressed dysfunctional sexual beliefs. Given the recognizing of the PLISSIT model as an effective sexual counseling method, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of counseling based on PLISSIT Model focused on dysfunctional sexual beliefs among women with sexual dysfunction.Methods: This parallel randomized clinical trial was performed in comprehensive Health Centers in Mashhad, Iran, in 2019. Sixty-one eligible women with sexual dysfunction were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to control and intervention groups using a simple lottery method. Data were collected by the Female Sexual Function Index and the Sexual Dysfunctional Beliefs questionnaire. The intervention group received four weekly sexual counseling sessions based on the PLISSIT model focused on dysfunctional sexual beliefs. The control group received routine care of the health centers. Data were analyzed by SPSS (version 24) using Paired t-test and Wilcoxon tests.Results:  The mean overall sexual function scores immediately after the intervention and one month later were 30.5 ± 2.2 and 30.5 ± 2.4, respectively, in the intervention group, while in the control group; the scores were 23.4 ± 3.6 and 23.4 ± 3.2, respectively. The differences between the groups were significant (P&lt;0.001).Conclusion: PLISSIT model counseling focused on dysfunctional sexual beliefs improved the sexual function of women with sexual dysfunction. It is recommended that this intervention be included in the agenda of sexual counseling clinics to improve sexual function in the women with sexual dysfunction.]]></abstract>

				<title>Effect of Acupressure and Fluoxetine on Premenstrual Syndrome: A Randomized Clinical Trial</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a common disorder in women that can affect normal aspects of their life. We conducted the present study to compare the effect of acupressure and fluoxetine on PMS. Methods: This randomized clinical trial included 90 Iranian female students at Qazvin University of Medical Sciences with moderate to severe premenstrual syndrome.  After convenient sampling, individuals were randomly assigned to three groups (30 acupressure, 30 fluoxetine, and 30 control) using block randomization. The tools used include the demographic form, the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and the Daily Record of Severity of Problems form (DRSP). The intervention was performed in three consecutive menstrual periods and was followed up three months later.  The acupressure group applied acupressure to 4 points (LIV3, SP9, LI11, LI4) every other day, 14 days before menstruation, using the TENS device (6 sessions during the second half of the menstrual cycle). The fluoxetine group received oral fluoxetine 20 mg daily for 14 days prior to menstruation. The control group received no intervention Data were analyzed using R software and Mixed effect model tests.Results: There was a significant difference between the acupressure and fluoxetine groups with the control group in DRSP score (P&lt;0.001) after the intervention. However, no significant difference in DRSP score was observed between the two intervention groups during the intervention (P&gt;0.05), but the difference between the two groups became significant during the time of follow-up (p=0.033).Conclusion: Acupressure can be recommended as a useful complementary and alternative method to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors in women with PMS]]></abstract>

				<title>The Geographical Distribution of Breast Cancer Incidence Using Geographic Information System in Khorasan Razavi Province, North East Iran: A Registry-based Study</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: Breast cancer is top-ranking cancer among women regarding its incidence and mortality rates. This study aimed to estimate the possible geographical distribution of breast cancer in the Khorasan Razavi province, North East Iran.Methods: This retrospective record review study utilized data from the cancer registration system, focusing on patients registered from 2013 to 2017 in Khorasan Razavi Province. Information from clinical, pathological, and cytological evaluations, as well as death certificates, was collected. Sample size was determined through full enumeration, including all diagnosed patients with breast cancer. Statistical analyses were performed using Stata V. 14 and SPSS V. 20, incorporating mean ± SD and frequency reporting. Incidence rates, age-standardized rates, and geographic clustering were assessed using ArcMap V. 10.6.1 software. Results: Over five years, 5553 patients with breast cancer were diagnosed. The average diagnosis age of the patients was 51.41 ± 12.94 years. The age-standardized incidence rate (ASR) between 2013 and 2017 was 54.3, 40.9, 44.8, 42.8, and 40, respectively, which revealed an almost decreasing trend. Bakharz and Taibad cities have the highest and lowest incidence rates compared to neighborhood cities in Khorasan Razavi province, respectively. Anselin Local Moran’s I test revealed that there is no identified significant cluster in the counties of Khorasan Razavi (P&gt;0.05). Conclusion: The study suggests a decreasing trend in breast cancer incidence, with the highest rates in the 40-49 age group. Recommendations include implementing screening and prevention measures, particularly targeting high-risk populations to address this health concern.]]></abstract>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: The rapid decline in fertility rates and the disruption of the age pyramid balance could cause irreparable economic and social damage. This study aimed to determine the relationship between some important demographic and socio-economic factors and couples&#039; fertility attitudes.Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on the married men and women (512 participants), who visited healthcare centers in urban and rural areas of Rafsanjan, Iran from March to July 2022. The study population was selected via cluster sampling. A self-structured questionnaire was used to assess participants’ attitudes towards childbearing, which was completed on a self-report basis. The attitude score were compared using the Independent Sample T-test and one-way ANOVA test.Conclusion: Based on our results, the total childbearing attitude score gets nearly 75% of the total number, it can be concluded that the Rafsanjan population has a positive attitude toward childbearing. The results will help policy-makers for planning and intervention in line with the new demographic policies, through encouraging couples toward childbearing.at the community level.]]></abstract>

				<title>Outpatient versus Inpatient Vaginal Misoprostol Administration for the First-trimester Abortion: A Randomized Clinical Trial</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: Misoprostol is widely used for the first-trimester abortion. This study aimed to assess the success rate and side effects of outpatient versus inpatient vaginal misoprostol administration for the first-trimester abortion.Methods: A prospective randomized clinical trial included 280 women with first-trimester abortion (≤14 week’s gestation) referred to three educational hospitals of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, Iran in 2019-2020. Patients were randomly assigned to receive vaginal misoprostol either in an inpatient or outpatients setting Intra-vaginal misoprostol 800-mcg was administered every twenty-four hours up to two doses. Treatment success, the primary outcome, was defined as complete evacuation after one or two doses. Elective curettage was performed if complete evacuation failed after one week, while emergent curettage was considered in cases of heavy vaginal bleeding. To analyse data, SPSS software (version 19.0) and Independent t-test, Chi-square test, and Logistic regression model was used.  Results: Success rates for outpatient and inpatient treatments were 96.6%  (114 out of 118) and 91.5%, (119 out of 130), respectively, showing no significant difference (P = 0.167). Additionally, side effects did not significantly differ between inpatient and outpatient groups (P = 0.698).Conclusion: Vaginal misoprostol (800-mcg every twenty-four hours for a maximum of two doses) in an outpatient setting is as effective as in an inpatient condition with similar side effects. Outpatient medical abortion can be a viable alternative to hospitalization. ]]></abstract>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: Pregnancy complications can lead to the death of some women, most of which are safely preventable . This study aimed to determine the conditions, trends, and main causes of mortality of women of reproductive age in Iran.Methods: In this secondary data analysis, the data on death were extracted in terms of age, sex, and cause of death at the provincial level from the annually published death records registered by the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics system of Iran. The conditions and trends of women&#039;s mortality were analyzed from 2006 to 2020 using SPSS 16 software. Results: The death rate of women in Iran reached a very low level in 2020 with 5 deaths of 1000 women and 1 death in 1000 women at reproductive age. The death rate was higher in rural areas. Six primary causes accounted for 70% of deaths, while 10% were indeterminate at reproductive age.. Deaths caused by infectious and parasitic diseases increased among women, particularly women aged 15 to 19. Provinces with lower levels of development had higher women mortality, particularly deaths caused by external causes of death and infectious diseases.Conclusion: Despite the decrease in women&#039;s mortality in the country, the differences in deaths at provincial levels are still significant. The high rate of deaths caused by accidents and infectious diseases and its relationship with economic and social variables shows that it is still possible to improve the health index for women by promoting social policies in less developed areas.]]></abstract>

				<title>The Effect of Education Regarding Non-Stress Test (NST) on the Levels of Anxiety among Pregnant Women: A Quasi-Experimental Controlled Study</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: A non-stress test (NST) is a procedure that can cause anxiety in pregnant women. No studies were found to address the effect of education regarding NST on levels of anxiety. This study was aimed to determine the effect of education regarding non-stress test on the levels of anxiety among pregnant women.Methods: This quasi-experimental controlled trial was carried out on 208 pregnant women who visited the Non-Stress Test Clinic of Aydın Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, Aydın, Turkey between July 2020 and 2021 by convenience sampling. The demographic questionnaire and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory were used to collect research data. During the study, the pregnant women in the educational group were educated using the “Non-Stress Test Education Booklet for Pregnant Women” prepared by the researchers before the non-stress test procedure. Data were analysed using SPSS software (version 18) by Chi-square/independent t-test and Pearson correlation.Results: There was no significant difference in the mean scores of anxiety in the education (state: 49.73± 7.45, trait: 37.29± 6.25) and control (state: 48.31±5.36, trait: 38.03±5.82) groups before intervention. After the education, the state anxiety levels of the pregnant women in the education group were found to be significantly lower (p&lt;0.05). However, the mean trait anxiety scores in the education group were lower than in the control group, but the difference was insignificant (p&gt;0.05).Conclusion: In the present study, state anxiety levels decreased in the education group post-education. Both groups exhibited mild anxiety before and after education, while trait anxiety levels remained similar post-education.]]></abstract>

				<title>Fertility Behavior and its Influencing Factors in Female Employees of Tehran University of Medical Sciences</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: In Iran, the fertility rate showed a significant decrease from 6.08 in 1976 to 1.2 in 2011. This pattern will lead to population reduction during 2041-2046. Women’s employment is one of the factors which may affect fertility behavior. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the fertility behavior and its influencing factors in female employees of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the statistical population was all married female employees of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The Census sampling method was used, and 116 subjects were included in the study. The data collection tool was a self-structured questionnaire. Variables influencing fertility behavior were collected and the effect of each was investigated. Data were analyzed by SPSS (version 16).Results: The findings showed that the level of education plays an important role in determining fertility behavior. So that a significant relationship was found between the level of education and all indicators of reproductive behavior, including the time interval between marriage and the first childbearing (P=0.008), the ideal number of children (P=0.007), the age gap between children (P=0.001) and age at the time of marriage (P=0.001). Also, income level, employment status, housing status, sexual preference, fear of childbearing and government facilities were other factors influencing fertility behavior (P&lt;0.05).Conclusion: The obtained results show that the educational status of individuals, job security and the existence of facilities in the administrative system to support childbearing for female employees are effective in their fertility behavior. It is essential to concern these factors in order to promote fertility intention.]]></abstract>

				<title>Prevalence, Indications and Outcomes of Cesarean Section Deliveries in Nigeria: A Four-Year Retrospective Review in Bowen University Teaching Hospital</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: The prevalence of cesarean section as a mode of delivery is on a steady increase, it is, therefore, a good practice to perform periodic assessments of the procedure in various institutions. This study aimed to examine the prevalence, indications, and outcomes of cesarean section in a private teaching hospital in Nigeria.Methods: This retrospective record review was conducted among mothers who delivered in Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. Case records, maternity records, and theatre records of 978 women who delivered via cesarean section from June 1, 2018 to May 31, 2022 were retrieved. Data was collected from secondary sources using a self-structure checklist. SPSS version 20 was used to analyze data.Results: A total of 2,558 deliveries were registered during the four years of the survey, out of which 978 (38.2%) were carried out via cesarean section. The mean age of mothers was 30.3±0.15years. The majority of the women were multi gravida accounting for 59.9%. The previous scar was the leading indication with 15.5%, followed by fetal distress and prolonged labor with 13.9% and 13.6%, respectively. Of the women who had cesarean sections, 152 (15.6%) exhibited adverse outcomes. The most adverse outcome was anemia, which accounted for 6.4%.Conclusion: The prevalence of cesarean section was higher than the World Health Organization&#039;s recommended rate of 10-15%. Therefore, there is need for individualized care during antenatal visits, with an emphasis on reducing medicalization of pregnancy to decrease the necessity for unnecessary cesarean sections.]]></abstract>

				<title>The Effect of an Educational Program Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior on Maternal-Fetal Attachment in Primigravid Women</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: Poor awareness of mothers toward fetal development leads to anxiety and may harm the Maternal-Fetal attachment. This study investigated the effect of an educational program based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) on Maternal-Fetal Attachment (MFA) in primigravid women.Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 106 couples (in two groups of 53) using a convenience sampling method from 4 health centers, which randomly selected in Ahvaz, Iran, in 2016-2017. The intervention group participated in six sessions of maternal-fetal attachment training. Both groups were evaluated using two questionnaires before and four weeks after the intervention. Data were analyzed with SPSS-22 software using paired t-test and independent t-test at a significant level of 0.05Results: Mean score of MFA after intervention in intervention and control groups (63.1±4.3 vs 57.8±4.3) was significantly different (P &lt; 0.001). Also, the mean score of knowledge (5.9±3.7 vs 4.1±5.1), attitude (78.3±3.7 vs 71.2±5.1), subjective norm (45.9±1.9 vs 41.5±3.5), perceived behavioral control (56.7±1.9 vs 50.8±3.6), and behavioral intention (12.8±2.7 vs 9.6±1.2) of pregnant mothers were statistically different between the intervention and control groups (P&lt;0.001).Conclusion: The results of this study showed that educational intervention based on TPB can be useful and effective in promoting MFA. So, it appears that this model is an effective strategy for behavior change in the field of attachment.]]></abstract>

				<title>Spontaneous Pregnancy Following 6-Month Herbal Medicine Treatment for the Subclinical Stage of Premature Ovarian Insufficiency: A Case Report</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background &amp; aim: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) in women under 40 leads to infertility and psychological distress. Timely diagnosis of POI is vital to prevent progression to ovarian failure. Chinese herbal medicine has shown efficacy in treating the subclinical stage of POI, aligning with the preventive approach of Chinese medicine.Case report: A 29-year-old with subclinical POI received exclusive herbal medicine treatment. After six months, she achieved spontaneous conception, with an anti-mullerian hormone level of 0.41 ng/mL and follicle-stimulating hormoneat 14.96 mIU/mL. Ultrasound revealed increased antral follicle count post-treatment. Without assisted reproductive technology, she delivered a healthy full-term baby.Conclusion: Successful subclinical POI treatment with Chinese herbal medicine resulted in a safe, spontaneous pregnancy. This case underscores diagnostic challenges in POI, emphasising the necessity of adhering to criteria. Despite the lack of guidelines, Chinese herbal medicine shows promise for follicular growth in POI. Valuable insights contribute to learning points, emphasising the potential for natural conception without assisted reproductive technology as an indication of the efficacy of integrative approaches in subclinical POI management.]]></abstract>
